When the Buddha taught, he said that there was no God or gods to appease and ask for help. Achieving enlightenment is due entirely upon receiving the correct teachings and then on how hard one pratices these teachings. One may ask, but who created the world and how does this whole pheomenal world work? The answer is that it all follows the process of interdependent origination in which one action or event causes another event which causes another event and so on. In personal terms interdependent origination explains how our happiness and suffering in our present life is the result of actions in our previous lives. This process proceeds through twelve links and each of these links or phases of creation of karma is explained in detail in this booklet. |
