Khenpo Konchog Samdup Brief Introduction Konchog Samdup was born in the year 1977 in Nangchen into a farming family. Khenpo was the third child in a family of 5 children. At the age of 13, he was ordained as a novice monk at Gar Monastery in Nangchen, which was two days horse ride from his family home. A year later, he receives the full ordination (Gelong) from Gar Mingyur Rinpoche. And for four years, he was taught to read and write, playing various musical instruments, text recitation, torma making and lama dance. At the age of seventeen, Konchog Samdup accompanied H.E. Garchen Triptul Rinpoche to the region of Amdo to meet and

Due to the ripening of Karma, the intention to pursue higher studies swells in Konchog Samdup to pursue further Dharma studies, which landed him in the famous Serthar Buddhist Institute in the valley of Larung Gar headed by Khenpo Jigme Phuntsog for a duration of four years. Konchog Samdup learns the field of Buddhist Philosophies, Sutra and Tantra teachings and also received many Dzogchen teachings & empowerment from the Longchen Nyingthik and Lama Yanthik Lineage.

In 1996, he escapes to India to be with His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon and His Eminence Garchen Triptul Rinpoche. He further continues his studies in Dzongsar Buddhist Institute for another 4 years and in 2001 after graduation he was conferred the title Khenpo by His Holiness The 37th Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang. The title comes with the responsibility, which Khenpo happily undertook in giving Buddhist Philosophies lectures of various topics at The Drikung Kagyu Institute situated in Dehra Dun, India.

From His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama, Khenpo receives the Six Yoga of Naropa, Kalachakra and few other teachings. From His Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, he receives all Transmissions and Empowerment of the Drikung Kagyu Lineage during the 12-Year Cycle of Snake Year in 2001.
