DRIGUNG DZOGCHEN COMMUNITY TALLAHASSEE, AMERICA. founded by Ontül Rinpoche in Dec 2001 Introduction
On December 4th, 2001 Ontul Rinpoche arrived in Tallahassee Florida to confer the 1 year teachings and empowerments for the 10 year Yangzab Study Course. Before the formal teachings began we arranged for Rinpoche to speak at Florida State University and to give a public lecture at the Unitarian Universalist Church. Both lectures were well attended. Rinpoche gave a talk on Tara at the University. The lecture at the U. U. Church was hosted by the Cypress Tree Zen group and was attend by approximately 85 people from the community. Rinpoche gave an inspired talk on the subject of Loving Kindness, which was well received by the audience at the church. The Five days of teachings of the first year of the Yangzab Study Course were also well attended. On any given day of the course we had between 25 and 30 people in attendance. On the day of the formal Yangzab Empowerment we had 35 people in attendance. Of those attending 16 took formal refuge with Ontul Rinpoche. During the teachings we were blessed with the gift of rain. As we have been experiencing a draught the rain was that much more precious. On December 12, 2001 Ontul Rinpoche bestowed a great blessing by announcing that he had decided to make Tallahassee Florida a DDC center. All of us in Tallahassee are overjoyed with the opportunity to help make the Yangzab Teaching Course a success. Those who miss the first year Preliminary Teaching can start the Drigung Dzogchen course from second year and progress up to the tenth year.
